ECOWAS, CEAC, and UEMOA: Strong Agreements for African Trade
Since 1975 and the founding of ECOWAS, the countries of West Africa have united and joined forces to strengthen their impact on the international stage. These economic, political, and diplomatic alliances facilitate exchanges between nations as well as the associated customs procedures.
ECOWAS : The Economic Community of West African States promotes the economic integration of its 15 member countries. Within these countries, people can move freely, and the customs union greatly facilitates the exchange of goods. This organization also plays a mediating role in times of tension or conflict, further fostering robust economic development.
CEAC : Created in 1983, the Economic Community of Central African States aims to maintain peace while also liberalizing trade among its member countries. With Cameroon and Congo among its members, logistics for our African freight forwarders between West and Central African nations are significantly simplified.
UEMOA : UEMOA formerly UMOA (African Monetary Union)—is an open and harmonized economic market built around a central bank, the BCEAO. Its 8 member countries share the same currency: the CFA franc.
